Note for Table 5.1: everybody knows that cheese named Camembert can only be produced in Normandy and champagne has to be grown in Champagne, France. China has the most geographical indications in the world more than the EU and Switzerland combined. Many of China’s geographical indications go back centuries and even millennia.
